75 years of We-Ha-Papier in Berlin

1949

Founded in Berlin-Kreuzberg by Erwin Wittkamm and Heinz Herrmann.
Registration in the commercial register: We-Ha-Papier Wittkamm & Herrmann, business lo­cation: Berlin SW 68, Charlottenstraße 96, Westsektor.

The registered activity in the trade license card: wholesale of colored paper and graphic arti­cles of need.

1977

We-Ha-Papier becomes GmbH under the management of Erwin Wittkamm and Winfried Schmidt.

1979

Erwin Wittkamm succumbed to a serious illness. In the first years after the founding of the company, he laid the decisive building blocks. As the single managing director, Winfried Schmidt praises the Erwin Wittkamm memorandum award, which is intended to give the three best bookbinder apprentices of one year a fresh incentive.

1989

The Berlin Wall falls. Germany is on its way to reunification. The insularity of the city has now come to an end. Fortunately, the customer contacts already existing at the time of the Wall in the East can now be continued as normal. The company's reputation is also growing in the old federal states.

1992

The speculation with commercial rent forces the relocation of the company to the to Güterfelde, a small village near by Berlin. The new location allows modern storage with motorway connec­tions in the Berlin-Potsdam area. The administration remains in Berlin.

1993

Solveig Schmidt-Onken, daughter of Winfried Schmidt, joined the company. She is an expe­rienced handcraft bookbinder and chemistry engineer and brings in experience from activities in an in­dustrial binderie as well as abroad.

1995

Winfried Schmidt withdrew from the daily business of the company, Solveig Schmidt-Onken becomes managing director.

2002

The company returns to Berlin. We-Ha-Papier is located in the town district of Tempelhof in a small commercial area, close to the motorway, convenient for traffic and well-conditioned for the storage of paper and adhesives. The move will bring about a modernization.

2006

"Reunification" of We-Ha-Papier. After the positive development at the new location, the ad­ministration is moving to the same address.

2014

We-Ha-Papier is 65 years old! Up today, We-Ha-Papier remains connected to the trade of graphic procucts. The customers include industrial and handicraft book­binding companies, printing processors and increasingly companies from the creative indus­try. Long-term connections also exist with institutions such as archives, conservators, libraries and schools.

2017

Relaunch of the website and publishing of a new catalog.

2019

We-Ha-Papier is 70 years old!

2020

Publication of a new pricelist 2020.

2024

75th company anniversary.
